This quilt jacket bundle is for the people who can’t walk past a thrifted quilt without imagining its second life—and for the kids who tag along and start doing the same.

The Cardamom Quilt Jacket and Mini Cardamom Quilt Jacket are designed as companion patterns so you can sew matching versions for adults and kids. Both are fully reversible and made for quilted fabrics, whether thrifted quilts, vintage textiles, patchwork, or handmade quilted yardage.

The jackets feature a cozy stand collar to keep the wind out, oversized pockets for cold hands (and very important treasures), and an intentionally oversized fit that leaves plenty of room for layering chunky sweaters and cozy sweatshirts.

The Adult Cardamom Quilt Jacket (sizes 00-34) includes four views:
Views A and C are regular length, hitting just above the hip, with a stand collar, large pockets, a roomy fit, and a dropped shoulder. View A has no closures, while View C includes snap closures.

Views B and D use the same silhouettes as A and C but are lengthened to hit around the fullest part of the hip and include a larger, slightly angled pocket.

The Mini Cardamom Quilt Jacket (sizes 12M-7) is a scaled-down companion to the adult version—perfect for the kids who love digging through fabric piles and thrift stores just as much as you do. It includes two views: a classic version with no closures and a version with reversible snap closures for extra warmth and versatility.

The Sourdough Pants are a classic wide leg, elastic waist pant and shorts pattern, with lots of options and fun style details. This pattern comes with 4 view options and sizes 00-34 (64" hip).

View A is a Pants view and features a small paperbag ruffle waistband, drawstrings that tie at the waist, inseam pockets, a faux fly and an extra deep 6” (15.3 cm) hem. View B is the second pants view and features a drawstring that ties in the front, a 1” (2.5 cm) waistband, slash pockets, and a regular 2” (5 cm) hem. View C is the shorts version of View A and has the same waistband, faux fly, pockets and drawstrings, but has a 3” (7.5 cm) inseam, and optional slit at the hem. View D is the shorts version of View B and has the same waistband, drawstring, and slash pockets but has a 3” (7.5 cm) inseam.

***You can mix and match different elements between views if you wish and feel confident enough! The drafting is the same for all views, so you can swap waistbands, hem lengths, drawstring styles and the faux fly!

Recommended Fabrics:

This pattern would sew up well in light to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, linen blends, twill, lightweight canvas or denim, cotton, or cotton blends.

I suggest fabrics that are between 6-7 oz (200-230 gsm).You can also use a low stretch knit such as sweatshirt fabric with 20-30% stretch. Blends with rayon and viscose work well too, but beware that they tend to grow when sewing with them!

The layer cake is a cute boxy bag pattern that features ruffles along the front and back and a zipper closure. It is fully lined and the seams are finished with bias tape. It comes in two sizes, small and large.

They are great as makeup or toiletry bags, diaper bag organizers, or you can also add a D ring and a purse strap to make it a purse!

The Strawberry Shortcake Dress and Top is a pattern designed for woven fabrics. It features a slight scoop neck and is fitted with elastic through the waist.

View A features a bias bound neckline and has two strap options- tie straps or adjustable straps with sliders. It also features a shirred waistline. It has a curved drop waist, full gathered midi skirt and wide 2” hem.
View B features a split bust with adjustable ties, and exposed elasticated channels at the waist. It also features a shirred waistline. It has a curved drop waist, full gathered midi skirt and wide 2” hem.

View C and D are top versions of the two dresses, and hit just above the hip and have a slight peplum.

The Nicola Pouch is a super versatile and stylish piece. It can be worn on the hip, the waist, across the body or over the shoulder. You will only need to cut a handful of pieces and the instructions are beginner friendly and easy to follow.

This pattern will show you how to bind seam allowances with bias binding. You also will learn how to sew a zipper welt.

It’s also a great scrap-buster as it uses very little fabric. It is a very straight forward sew, and is a great introduction to sewing bags!
